Having prejudice to Chinese and African American. I am a Chinese. I think their food is so so and not authentic Chinese food. But it seems to me that the owner and staff do not like Chinese and African Americans. They even ask all Chinese customers to pay at least 18% tips on menu (in Chinese character, only for Chinese) if they spend over $40. I also find that they are so rude to African Americans, so very few Afrian American are willing to dine-in in this restaurant.

High Priced, Not That Great.. There are many better Chinese restaurants around than this one. The food is expensive, the staff are rude, and the food is just so-so. They get away with it and stay in business because there is not another Chinese place near by.

My recommendation is to drive the distance to somewhere else.

Good Chinese. I am always looking for a good chinese resturant and I finally found one in Irmo. The fresh ingredients make the meal. No iodine taste here. Try it and you'll be back for more.

The most authentic Chinise Cuisine around. This is THE place to go if you want real Chinese food in this area. While they do offer the standard Americanized menu with things like General Tso's, Mongolian Beef, etc., the real draw to this place is the Traditional Chinese Cuisine Menu. It is a nice change from the standard takeout menu that every "Chinese" place has. My personal favorite is the "Shredded Pork and Bean Curd in Five Spices," but everything else I've tried on that menu is delicious as well. Give the traditional cuisine a try, and you'll wonder why it isn't served at all the Chinese places around here.

The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, with illuminated etched glass separators between the tables, which are pieces of art in themselves. The lighting is dim enough for a romantic meal, but not so dim that you have to guess what you're eating.

The prices are very reasonable, just a little higher than most Chinese take-out places (about 10% higher) but not what I would call expensive, and the quality is worth the extra couple bucks. I'm actually a little surprised (and glad) that the menu items aren't more expensive than they are.

The staff is very friendly and polite. Though some of them are not the most fluent speakers of English, this just adds to the "authentic" experience.

You can also call in orders for takeout, which is great for a good meal at home that doesn't seem like fast food.

I have traveled all over Asia, and been to many real Chinese restaurants. I also lived in Hawaii, where there is no such thing as "Americanized Chinese Takeout" as we know it, only authentic restaurants. I can assure you that Sun Ming is the real deal if you want to experience Chinese food.
