Don't believe the hype. My wife and I went to Miyo's after reading all of the rave reviews (e.g., "Best of Columbia", etc.). We went in not expecting authentic Chinese (we both have lived in China for an extended period of time), but perhaps something PF Chang-ish. I have to say, next to this place, PF Chang looks like a 5 star restaurant.

First, we ordered a beef satay and vegetarian egg rolls for appetizers. The satay was hard and chewy with practically no taste. The egg rolls actually tasted worse than egg rolls we have had from a local Chinese buffet!

The appetizers were bad, but we were still hopeful that the entrees would live up to the hype. Nope...not at all. I ordered the General Tso's chicken (a dish that is almost impossible to screw up) and my wife ordered the Kung Pao chicken. We have ordered these dishes at PF Changs and enjoyed them, so we were expecting something in the same ballpark from Miyos. The General Tso's was bland and I even tasted a couple pieces of bad chicken. I've had better General Tso's from generic Chinese take-out places. The Kung Pao chicken was even worse, as the peanuts were completely rotten! They tasted like they were around a year old and the dish was LOADED with peanuts. Peanuts notwithstanding, the chicken itself was also pretty gross. My wife went to work picking out the peanuts (they ended up filling up almost a whole rice bowl) and a waitress stopped by. We explained to her that the peanuts were rotten and all she did was bring us to-go boxes! I was a waiter during college and if I saw a customer picking through the dish and heard them complain that the dish was bad, I would have automatically removed the dish and ask what I could do to fix the problem. The waitress did nothing to address the problem and we ended up paying for all the dishes. I didn't want to be a douchebag customer and demand the dish be removed from the bill...but perhaps I should have.

In short, we are never coming back to this restaurant. Don't believe everything you read about this place!

Excellent Food, Drinks, & Service. I purchased a voucher through LivingSocial intending to go to the Miyo's on Bower Pky. The only vouchers remaining were downtown, so I opted for Main St. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the service, the atmosphere, the food and drinks. Our waiter, Hunter, was extremely pleasant and made wonderful cocktails. He really added to the whole experience. Our sushi was superb, and the prices were reasonable. We will definitely be back!

Excellent Asian Food in a Cool Setting. I was visiting Columbia from NC for a dive meet. Miyos was recommended by the hotel we were staying at. The food was delicious and interesting. The menu where my teenager could build his own dinner with lots of vegetables and fresh meat was perfect. I had the Pad Thai and it was really good. I would recommend this restaurant to any of my friends. Davey, our waiter, was articulate and charming. He is a keeper.

This IS the place for excellent Sushi and Szechuan Cuisine. I have been a patron of Miyo's for many years and would like to highly recommend this reataurant to anyone who lives in or visits the Columbia area. The wonderful dishes the Chef's prepare always taste and look amazing. The staff is very friendly and I have been served by the sames servers for many years ... which is a testament to good managment and a happy workforce. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for wonderful all-round dining experience.

Best In Columbia. Great food, great service, great atmosphere!

Columbia is very fortunate to have the Miyo’s restaurants. Locally owned and operated. Owners are always on site.

Quality at a reasonable price.

Best Chinese restaurants in SC. We are extremely fortunate to have world-class Chinese food in Columbia, South Carolina thanks to Michelle Wang and the Miyo's family of restaurants. Michelle's attention to detail and extraordinary work ethic make all of her restaurants outstanding places to dine. Whether for a nice dinner on a special occasion, a quick lunch, or take-out after a long day at work, Miyo's is consistently excellent.

Great Service & Delicious Food. I went to Miyo's on Main for the first time today. They open up at 11:30 am and not knowing this, I called in to place an order at 11:00. They had my food ready ten minutes later, even though they were not open yet. The person that served me was very friendly and told me that I was welcome to order early any time, that he didn't mind serving his customers before 11:30. The food was delicious! I am so happy to have found this place.

Bad customer service and food quality not good.. I have tried the new Sandhill location twice and used to frequet the Forrest location. The Sandhill service was HORRIBLE and the sushi was...sad...BiLow does better and is cheaper. I also had the garlic chicken - very bland.
