Dr Milne is one of the BEST!. I had my lasik surgery several years ago and have never had any problems. In fact I work in a hospital and could see any physician I want, but choose to go to Dr. Milne who is located at another hospital. When I read that terrible review made by someone who is one of those who could never be satisfied with anyone or anything, I have to let everyone know who the true Rick Milne is. He is a kind and caring man who puts others first. He discounted my eye exam because my insurance would not cover my visit at his practice. He also provides discounts for anyone who has state or city benefits. You see, most of these plans only allow you to see optometrist and not opthamologist. If he were only in it for the money, he would not care about seeing these other people who have insurance plans that will not cover his services. He prayed with me as well and I too found that very comforting. Unfortunately we are now living in times where we have a president who abolishes National Prayer Day only to have all the muslims come to the white house and read from the Koran. So thank you Dr Milne for continuing to do great work and sharing God's love while you do it.
Dr. Milne is excellent.
Dr. Milne performed my INTACS surgery and I have been extremely pleased. He is professional, caring and empathetic and I have never had trouble with my followup.
The above review seems to be quite an outlier. However, the statements about "right wing Christian books and magazines" makes one think that the reviewer had a political axe to grind (I guess they don't have these journals in San Francisco).
In addition: every physician's office has "gatekeepers." Thankfully. You don't need to talk to the physician for every complaint. Otherwise, other patients would be interrupted during their time with the doctor in the office.
One hint: be a pleasant patient that people want to be around. If you were the physician, how would you want the patient to relate to you?
Dr Rick Milne. I have had 3 eye surgeries performed by Dr. Milne and have a fourth scheduled. I have found him to be incredibly kind and patient. My surgeries have gone smoothly. My waiting times have not been bad. I have never had a problem getting an appointment or follow up information.
Dr. Milne is Ok with me.
I had lens replacement surgery over a year ago with Dr. Milne.
I have been to 3 or 4 " specialists" and they all said they could not help me.
My left eye was - 1800 which is practically blind. I was seeing 5 of everything.
My family eye doctor gave me new glasses that were as thick as pop bottles.
these glasses did not help at all.
One other point. Dr. Milne just got back from China to teach. I told him schedule my surgery after he had time to rest and to make sure he was rested which he did. I thought that was outstanding. He completely understood my concerns.
This cost me some 600.00 I took the glasses back and got a credit on my account.
Finally, I saw ( with one good eye anyway) Dr. Milne. He performed some tests and gave me the diagnosis. I had the surgery, had some problems the first day with fluids building up and saw all white in my eye, Dr. Milne told me to come down ASAP and he saw me and corrected the problem and I was fine. He was very compassionate and understanding and gave me all the time I needed to ask questions. He never made me feel rushed or like I was a number.
He said a prayer with me prior to surgery which made me feel completely comfortable and at ease. Maybe the person who wrote the other negative review just caught Dr. Milne on a very bad day. He is human and he has bad days like all of us.
Please give him a second chance. He even suggested if I get my right eye done that he will credit me for this left eye work and only charge me 400 to have surgery on my left eye.
Lasic surgery. I think that was great. Peace to all.
P.S. My mother in law went to him and had the surgery also. She is completely satisfied with his work and she IS very hard to please...
One Size Fits All.
Rick Milne is a TERRIBLE ophthalmologist. I have a MAJOR PROBLEM with his lack of responsibility and his LACK OF MORAL OBLIGATION to his patients.
Rick Milne will tell you that if your vision is not good two weeks after surgery he will see you, assess the situation, and in most cases be able to "tweek" the lens for the desired vision. That is what he tells you BEFORE you have the operation. After the operation he disappears and you have to see the gatekeeper who will give you a prescription for reading glasses and will do everything in his power to get you out of the office and away from Rick Milne.
I find the blatant abuse and misrepresentation of physician/patient trust to be a moral outrage. Rick Milne is in the lens replacement business for the $$$$$. He doesn't give a flying rip about improving the quality of life of his patients. I'm glad that his business is lucrative, but I am outraged that he uses bait and switch tactics to spend the least amount of time possible with his patients. He could not care less about the outcome of his lens replacement surgery. He is all about checking the boxes to cover his behind.
Rick Milne also confesses to be a great Christian. He has political right-wing Christian books and magazines in his waiting room and he always says "God Bless". I wish he were more Christian in his approach to truly taking care of the needs of his patients and not being such an obvious money making machine. No one blames the man for making big bucks with his lens replacement operations. However, he should have the moral fiber to see that every patient has the most satisfactory results possible. He is a creep. "Physician heal thyself".
